about

Off of the first CD I ever recorded with my band Peculiar Boogie. It was also Peculiar Boogie's first CD.
We did this baby on 2" reel tape at Desert Moon Studios in Anaheim, CA.
ladybug was written by Rebekah Coltman and myself.
These are my lyrics.
I moved to L.A. when I was 21 years old.
I left to pursue my dream of becoming a rock star and to be in a place I felt comfortable being a lesbian woman.
My Mom and I had always seemed to have a bit of a tumultuous relationship, but it became even more strained when I came out and she had just become born again southern baptist.
Perhaps I was thinking about the cycle of life and how precious it is and how silly to spend time trying to control each other's lives.
I was 23 when I wrote this so who knows what was going through my mind then.
I hope you enjoy it!

lyrics

It's not enough just shaking
It's the closest to an evil I've ever known
Human doubt is slippery
Mislead intentions of the kindest kind
Look on out to the green blades
Pushed around by the wind
But the wind don't know anything
But to blow again and again
And the ladybug weeps
Because she's lost her young
They just up and flew away
Now her time's running out
And her wings move slower
Will they ever believe what she says?
Seems I never questioned anything
Never stopped when I wanted to go
And I'm not afraid
No I'm not afraid
Will not be afraid, yea
Not afraid
And the ladybug weeps
Because she's lost her young
They just up and flew away
Now her time's running out
And her wings move slower
Will they ever believe what she says?
Will they ever believe?

Lisa Marshall is a singer/songwriter based in Austin, TX. “The cocktail that is her music (a funky, soulful blues) can’t really be called fusion, but more of a stirred mow-town mixer. Lisa Marshall is on the fast track of positioning herself as one Austin’s staple female artists.” -Steven Blythe, Austin Post
