Off of my album 'Stay Right Here'
I was sitting in my 1 bedroom cottage off South Congress in Austin drinking red wine. I picked up my beater guitar and began playing the guitar lick which would become this song. I started singing a melody of words that were just a stream of consciousness.
I set it down and didn't mess with it for months until I stumbled across the recording. I had to re-teach myself the coordination of singing while playing this lick.
When the band first recorded this for the album it was a different sounding song. More on the Neo-Soul side.
I was listening to Isaac Hayes and it hit me...I borrowed and adjusted to my own style and this is what you'll here on this track.
I'm pretty proud of it.
I played all of the guitars, arranged the strings and backing vocals.
My fiance's vocals are on the backing vocals too!
